She qualified in Turin (Italy) in 1990, and was appointed there as a Consultant Radiologist in 1995, developing a special interest in breast disease diagnosis. She broadened her expertise in breast radiology working as a Consultant at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan from 2000 to 2003. She has participated in the National Health Service Breast Screening programme since 1999 (in Italy and the UK).
