What happens during your appointment?
Your consultant will go through your medical history and complete a physical examination to help diagnose your condition. They will then discuss the right and most accurate treatment option for you.
Treatment options
This condition is common and can affect any part of your body. It is normal to sweat when your body is under extreme stress or exposed to heat but this becomes a concern when you continue to sweat when your body does not need to cool down. Depending on the diagnosis and your consent the treatment options can vary:
Botox
Patients with excessive sweating affecting the armpits may benefit from Botox injections. This is performed as day-case procedure within the clinic itself.
Surgery
Some patients may require a procedure called Thoracoscopic Sympathectomy (TES). This is a minimally invasive procedure under general anaesthetic performed to divide the nerve within the chest that is associated with this condition.
