The appendix is a small pouch that is attached to your colon. Sometimes it can swell, resulting to severe pain; this condition is called appendicitis and the cause is not known. Your consultant will recommend getting an appendicectomy. This procedure can be done as an open surgery or a keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery.
