Colon and rectal cancer resection

If you have colorectal cancer, your consultant may opt for a cancer resection. This is where the affected part colon or rectum is surgically removed. During this surgery, it is likely that the surrounding lymph nodes will also be removed, allowing your consultant to check if, and how far the cancer may have spread.
