Breast Clinic FAQs
How soon can I have an appointment?
We have a specialist breast consultant available every weekday, so it can usually be within 24 hours of requesting your appointment. In some cases, you may be able to have your appointment scheduled for the same day. This of course depends on availability.
Which consultant will I see?
You are free to book an appointment with any of our breast consultants, male and female, all of whom are experts in breast care and breast disease.
If you wish to see a specific consultant please mention their name when booking. This, however, may lead to a small delay in your initial appointment.
Does having a biopsy hurt?
It can be a little uncomfortable, however, the consultant will ensure that you are as comfortable as possible. It only takes a few minutes to perform the test.
How much does it cost?
The costs range from £250 for the initial consultation to £350 for a second opinion and £180 to £225 for follow-up consultations. There are additional charges for any investigations or diagnostic tests. More information.
Surgery FAQs
Where will my surgery take place?
Your breast surgery will be carried out by your Consultant Surgeon at The Harley Street Clinic, 35 Weymouth Street, London, W1G 8BJ
When can I shower after surgery?
Your consultant and the hospital team will go over any concerns you may have prior to surgery and assist you through your entire procedure.
When can I remove my wound dressing?
We will help arrange an appointment post-surgery with your consultant to remove your wound dressing. We advise you to not change or disturb the dressing till then.
Do I need to come back to remove my stitches?
Your stitches are dissolvable and do not need removing.
What do I do if I notice changes in my wound?
Although wound infection is rare, you should still be aware of any changes to the wound site and surrounding areas.
Can I take a shower post my operation?
It’s quite safe to get your wound damp (not wet) after the 3rd day following your surgery; the dressing covering your wound is mostly waterproof, although soaking your wound in a bath, or swimming, is not recommended for 2 weeks.
